I make canes and walking sticks. Many times I have known people who needed the aid of a cane and wanted something different than you could find in a store.
I walk in the woods and pick interesting looking and sturdy sticks. I test them before I leave the woods, for strength, because your safety depends on my quality standards! Then I dry them several weeks in my basement and test them again.
Once they've passed my standards, I begin to work on them. I remove the bark, sand them to a smooth finish so you will not have any rough spots, and apply several coats on a nice varnish. Then I put a sturdy tip on each one so you can walk on any type of surface with confidence.
